A HEALING IN THE GROCERY STORE
– Freda B.
Last fall my husband, Dan, and I were together with our small group from church enjoying a fellowship meal when the host asked us to go around the table and each share what we see ourselves doing in the upcoming year. As soon as I heard the question, I knew my answer. I would be laying my hands on the sick and seeing them recover. I had been studying and listening to teachings and learning all I could about what God’s Word teaches about healing; so that my faith would increase, and I would fulfill the destiny the Lord has for my life as a believer. I read the words of Jesus when he said that these signs would follow those who believe. He placed in me a great desire to learn and study. I delight in fulfilling my destiny as He directs my steps.
Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
I believe that God is always working all around us. It is my desire to be a part of what He is doing wherever I go. So, a couple of weeks ago I was talking to him in the grocery store and I was passionately telling Him I needed the ability to be able to know what is going on in peoples’ lives. I said, ” I need the same ” knowing” that you had, Jesus, when you talked to the woman at the well and told her that she had 5 husbands and the one she was living with was not her husband.” I told God what I felt I needed and looking back now, I was pretty surprised that He answered my heart cry so soon!
So, back to the grocery store….
I came around the corner and as I passed the first person in the aisle, a man, I heard the words, “back pain.” John 10:27 my sheep hear my voice….
Wow, I said to myself, “That must be God.” I decided to ask the man, so I waited for a short time until he came up to go around me. “Sir, I asked, do you happen to have any back-pain issues?” At first, he said no but then he thought a second and said yes.
I then explained that when I walked past him, I heard God speak 2 words – “Back pain.” I told him that when this kind of thing happens, it is God wanting to love on that person by healing them. I joyfully exclaimed, “Wouldn’t it be great if God healed your back today?!”, he smiled and enthusiastically agreed with me. I asked him his name and if it would be ok to lay my hand on his back and pray for him. We both smiled and he said yes. I prayed, thanking the Lord for this man and God’s great love for him and then I proceeded to speak to his back, telling all the pain and inflammation to leave and told it to come into alignment with the kingdom of God . After we prayed, I looked up and said to him,” How about if we both keep on shopping awhile and I will check back with you in a little while to see how your back is feeling?” He agreed, so we parted ways and kept on shopping.
I really only needed a few items, so I took my time and kind of browsed up and down a couple of aisles while I waited for him to get closer to finishing his shopping. As I rounded the last aisle, I saw him up ahead. I waited till there was enough room that I could pull up beside him and ask him how his back felt.
He told me that after I prayed, and we parted he felt heat on his back and that it was feeling better!
I was so happy to hear that! I told him God loves him and that the Lord is going to use him and me to love and to help other people. Then he told me he works at a nearby retirement home and that he works with the elderly.
I was so glad God is healing his back so he can continue to help people. Who knows but he may share this experience with other people and cause them to ponder the existence and love of God!
It was very exciting to me to see how God loved on this man and that I got to be a part of it! This experience was a great encouragement to me.
My desire is to let Him continue to flow thru my life and do what He wants to do. I like how the apostle Paul said it in
Galatians 5:25 “If we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
So, everywhere we go, we can walk with purpose and confidence having this mindset that God is on the move and we get to participate with His good plans to further His Kingdom here on earth!!!
